the process:

The ARTifact Community Arts Showcase is an annual tradition of Able ARTS Work. Beginning in 2014, with the first ever showcase held at ARTifact Forum & Gallery in Hawthorne, Able ARTS Work has built a unique art community that celebrates creatives not only across the South Bay but all of Southern California. This annual juried exhibition has grown and evolved through the years to create a fully accessible and inclusive showcase encompassing all arts disciplines. As we look back on the success of the past 6 years of the ARTifact Community Arts Showcase, we look to the future with excitement as the showcase transforms from our traditional format to an exciting virtual reinterpretation of this beloved community event.

The Process: [Exposed] is the culmination of this transformative journey into new virtual world. This visual art exhibition explores the use of digital processes and the incorporation of photographic elements. Original artwork, film, and audio explore the idea of the artistic process vs. product with the intention to expose each distinct artistic process to viewers. ARTIfact Forum & Gallery unites artists of all abilities with the sole purpose of showcasing the unique talents of the local community while promoting the empowerment of all people through creative engagement. As past ARTifact Community Arts Showcases have established a budding art scene in Hawthorne, inclusive of all abilities, we build upon that foundation to bring these revolutionary ideas to a broader virtual audience. We aim to unify, in a time of separation and uncertainty, with an original creative narrative on the power of community, the need for connection, and the necessity of collaboration among our greater society. This exhibition redefines what it means to put on a community event in the post COVID-19 world. Able ARTS Work acknowledges and celebrates the process of artmaking and growing creatively as an arts community in these unforeseen times.
